Bombing near Sitai booth in Cooch Behar sends voters into a panic

Cooch Behar, 10th July: Re-polling is underway today in 696 booths across West Bengal following the incidents of violence that occurred during the panchayat elections on July 08. In response to the situation, the State Election Commission decided to conduct re-polling, and the process began smoothly this morning. The presence of Central forces ensured security and stability at the Shiveshwar 6/172 booth in Sitai assembly of Cooch Behar.

However, despite the initial smooth start, there were reports of a bombing near the polling station. The sound of bomb blast near the polling station created panic among voters who had come to cast their votes. Nonetheless, the Central personnel present at the site reassured the voters and maintained order. Meanwhile, the candidates acknowledged the bomb blasts but refrained from speculating on the perpetrators behind the incident.
