Siliguri, 01st October: Internal differences within the BJP in Dabgram II Anchal have reportedly intensified, with Pradhan Mitali Malakar resigning from her post. The development has sparked discussion in political circles.
According to reports, differences had been continuing between the pradhan and a section of the party for some time. It has been alleged that some BJP workers and leaders were in contact with panchayat members from opposition parties and were attempting to remove Malakar from the post. Malakar reportedly decided to resign amid the pressure and ongoing differences.
Speaking after her resignation, Mitali Malakar alleged that some members of her own party had joined hands with opposition panchayat members in an attempt to remove her. She said she found the development deeply embarrassing and therefore chose to resign voluntarily before such efforts could succeed.
Malakar further alleged that some party panchayat members, mandal leaders and other leaders had joined together in an alleged conspiracy to remove her from the post.
No reaction has so far been received from other BJP leaders or workers regarding the allegations. According to political sources, a new pradhan may be elected on October 7.
