Siliguri, 30th September: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest march in Siliguri on Wednesday, alleging incidents of unrest and harassment at various college campuses across West Bengal.
ABVP North Bengal Joint Secretary Aniket Dey Sarkar said the protest was organised against the alleged incident of portraits of Swami Vivekananda and Bharat Mata being stepped on at a college campus. The organisation demanded that those involved be identified, brought under the purview of the law and given strict punishment.
The ABVP also alleged that organisations such as SFI and ISF were attempting to create an atmosphere of unrest on college campuses. The organisation said that unrest on college campuses would not be tolerated.
The ABVP further stated that it would continue its movement demanding the safety of students and the maintenance of a peaceful environment on college campuses.
