Siliguri, 15th September: The festive spirit has gripped Siliguri as residents celebrate Ganesh Puja. This year, Biplabi Sangha’s Ganesh Puja has drawn attention with its unique theme, ‘Tapasvi Rupe Ganapati’.
The puja has entered its fourth year and was inaugurated by Padma Shri awardee Karimul Haque.
According to the club, the puja committee attempts to attract visitors with a new theme every year. Last year, the child-form Ganesh idol drew attention, and the committee has continued the tradition of presenting a distinctive concept this year.
The approximately 11-foot idol depicts Lord Ganapati in the ‘Tapasvi Rupe Ganapati’ theme. A symbolic representation of ‘Mahakal’ in Ganesha’s hand is a notable feature of the idol, adding further depth to the puja’s theme.
The puja is being held at Bibadi Sarani in Shibram Pally, Siliguri. The idol will remain open for public viewing for five days. Prasad will be distributed every day, along with various cultural programmes.
