Siliguri, 14th September: BJP leader Nantu Paul had landed in controversy following a scuffle with OBC Morcha President Pranoy Ghosh during an incident related to the cleaning of the Sidhu-Kanhu statue in Siliguri. Following the incident, the party had issued show-cause notices to both leaders.
Amid the controversy, BJP OBC Morcha state general secretary Sumit Paul addressed a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists’ Club on Monday. BJP leader Nantu Paul and OBC Morcha president Pranoy Ghosh were also present at the press conference.
During the press conference, the two leaders said that the incident was primarily the result of a misunderstanding.
Both Nantu Pal and Pranoy Ghosh said they were saddened by the incident and described it as unfortunate and unintended. They also appealed to the party leadership to take a sympathetic view of the matter, stating that both of them are members of the same party.
