Rajganj, 12th September: Bhorer Alo Police have arrested two men over allegations of harassing two young women content creators near the Ambari Barrage area in Rajganj block.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sujan Roy, a resident of Haricharan Bhita, and Chandra Pradhan, a resident of Ambari No. 09 Colony.
According to information, two young women content creators from the Ambari area had gone to a temple near the Ambari Barrage two days ago to create a video. An argument reportedly broke out between the women and two men present at the temple premises over the video recording.
The two men allegedly used obscene and abusive language while speaking to the women. It has also been alleged that they attempted to snatch the mobile phones being used by the women.
The incident reportedly created tension in the area, while a video of the incident has also surfaced on social media. The video purportedly shows an argument between one of the women and a man, along with an alleged attempt to take away her mobile phone.
Following a complaint regarding the incident, Bhorer Alo Police began an investigation and arrested the two men on Friday. They were produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Saturday.
Local resident Sujan Chandra Roy said that the video appeared to show the women being threatened and an attempt being made to take away a mobile phone. He welcomed the police action, saying that such measures would further strengthen public trust in the police.
