Siliguri, 18th April: As the scorching summer heat intensifies, people are already feeling the effects of the sweltering temperatures. Sweating, discomfort, and worsening health conditions are becoming common. However, amidst these challenging conditions, it’s essential to remember that animals are also affected. With their limited ability to cope with extreme temperatures, animals may face even greater difficulties during the hot season.
The management of Bengal Safari Park is taking proactive measures to ensure the well-being of animals during the scorching heat. A dedicated team, comprising of park staff and doctors, has been formed to address the health concerns of the animals living in the park. This team will conduct health check-ups and take preventive measures to protect the animals from the effects of the extreme heat. The park management’s proactive approach reflects their commitment to ensuring the welfare of the animals in their care, even in challenging weather conditions.
The management at Bengal Safari Park will take the health of its animals seriously, especially during hot weather. If any animal’s health deteriorates due to heat, they are given immediate first aid. Water is provided in the ponds to offer relief from the heat, and a comprehensive list of food and drink has been prepared for every animal. In particular, the park has filled a swimming pool with cold water for the Royal Bengal Tigers, such as Sheela and her cubs, who are finding relief from the scorching weather. At Bengal Safari Park, special measures have been taken to help the animals cope with the heat. Ice balls are provided daily in the enclosures of animals such as Black Bears and Leopards. The animal feed has been adjusted to include increased quantities of ORS water and chicken meat.
Kamal Sarkar, the director of Bengal Safari Park, mentioned that comprehensive preparations have been made for the park’s guests, taking into consideration the hot weather. A list of provisions, including drinking water and food, has been prepared, and special monitoring is being conducted to ensure the well-being of all the animals.
