Rajganj, 16th September: Belakoba Outpost Police detained 28 people, including five women, during a raid at Shikarpur Hat in the Rajganj block on Wednesday over allegations of illegal sale of country liquor and drinking.
The operation was conducted at the Shikarpur Hat premises under the leadership of Belakoba Outpost OC Arijit Kundu. According to police sources, some of those detained were allegedly found drinking liquor in public, while several others were detained over allegations of selling country liquor or haria in the area.
During the raid, country liquor or haria stored in jars and earthen pots was also recovered from the market premises. Police said the seized liquor was subsequently destroyed following due procedure.
Police stated that appropriate cases will be registered against all those detained under relevant sections of the law.
