Rajganj, 16th September: An initiative has been taken to widen the road from Belakoba Battala to Gate Bazar, addressing a long-standing demand of local residents. As part of the preliminary process, officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Land and Land Reforms Department began measuring the road on Wednesday in the presence of Rajganj MLA Dinesh Sarkar.
According to MLA Dinesh Sarkar, the road from Belakoba Battala to Gate Bazar is currently around 12 feet wide, making it difficult for two vehicles to pass alongside each other. Cyclists and motorcyclists also face difficulties while using the road.
The MLA said a request has been made to the government to widen the road to at least 24 feet. As part of the initiative, measurement work was started by the PWD and the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer (BLLRO) department on Wednesday.
A large number of vehicles use the road every day, while traffic pressure has also increased due to a tourist destination in the area. Sarkar also claimed that several accidents have occurred on the road in the past.
The MLA said local residents are cooperating with the road-widening work. Local residents have also welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the widened road will ease traffic movement and improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.
