Siliguri, 16th September: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from a drain in the Fruit Market area of Siliguri’s Regulated Market on Wednesday evening, triggering panic in the locality.
Following the information, police from Pradhan Nagar Police Station reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Siliguri District Hospital.
According to local residents, after goods vehicles passed through the area, a man was noticed lying unconscious near the drain. Police reached the spot and confirmed his death during the preliminary investigation.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been ascertained. Police are investigating to establish his identity and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police said the actual cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem examination report is received.
