19 cattle rescued in Fulbari border area, 8 arrested

Siliguri, 08th August: 19 cattle were rescued before being smuggled to Bangladesh. 8 people were arrested in the incident. The arrested accused have been identified as Mehboob Alam, Zafar Ali, MD Raju, Mohammad Rafiqul, Sariful Rahman, Harun Rashid, Safiyar Rahman, and Sayed Ali. They are residents of Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling district.


According to police sources, a group of 8 people gathered at Joydeb Vita near the Fulbari border on Saturday night to smuggle the cattle to Bangladesh. The NJP police, based on a tip-off, launched operations and initially arrested two people. Following this, 6 more men were arrested.


According to police sources, the arrested individuals had been smuggling cattle for a long time. The NJP police have started an investigation into the incident. They were produced at the Jalpaiguri court on Sunday.
