Alipurduar, 29th August: A differently-abled child who came to visit his maternal uncle’s house died due to drowning in the pond. This incident surfaced from Deomali area under Dhanirampur gram panchayat No. 01 under Falakata block of Alipurduar. The deceased has been identified as 08-year-old Amit Barman.
The family members are dumbfounded due to the incident as they cannot figure out how and why Amit drowned in the pond near the house while he was playing. Reportedly, one of the neighbours saw his body floating in the water. The tragic event engulfed the entire area with an atmosphere of grief and mourning. Police registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body to Alipurduar District Hospital for post-mortem today.
