Youths collecting Aadhaar Card and OTP for fake food survey nabbed in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th July: In Siliguri, three youths were found going door-to-door collecting Aadhaar cards and OTPs under the pretext of conducting a food survey. However, residents grew suspicious and apprehended the youths, subsequently handing them over to the police. The incident surfaced from the Kumartuli area under Ward No. 04 of Siliguri.


According to reports, the three youths visited the area today, claiming to represent a private company conducting a food survey. They requested Aadhaar cards and other documents from the residents for the survey. When one of the residents grew suspicious, he asked the youths to produce valid identity cards, but they failed to do so. In response, the residents took the initiative to catch the three individuals and promptly informed the Khalpara Outpost police.

Upon receiving the information, the police swiftly arrived at the scene and took the three youths into custody, bringing them to the police station for further investigation. Local sources stated that similar incidents have occurred in the past, with other teams collecting Aadhaar cards and OTPs from people across the city. Three years ago, a resident of the area fell victim to such a scam and lost around Rs 3.5 lakhs. The Khalpara Outpost police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the entire incident to prevent any further occurrences of such fraudulent activities.
