Youth’s body recovered after drowning incident at Fulbari Mahananda Barrage

Fulbari, 14th July: The body of a young man, Suraj Roy, who drowned while washing his feet in the Fulbari Mahananda Barrage, has been recovered. The tragic incident occurred on Friday evening when Suraj Roy slipped and fell into the water while washing his feet at the barrage.


It is to be noted that, local authorities and disaster response teams, along with family members, conducted a two-day search operation without success. Finally, on Sunday afternoon, locals spotted Suraj Roy’s body floating in the Teesta Canal in Mohammad Bux area. Phansidewa police were notified, and after identification by family members, the body was recovered.

Reportedly, the body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. The authorities are currently engaged in further investigation.
