Siliguri, 15th August: Sensation prevailed after a youth, identified as Sharan Chettri, lost his life after he was run over by a police vehicle. The incident surfaced from Pradhan Nagar Baghajatin Colony area. The vehicle driver has been detained in the incident.
Puran Chettri, the deceased’s elder brother stated that the car lost control and fell into a drain. “My brother was helping to retrieve the car from the drain. Somehow the car was shifted to reverse gear and it ran over him,” he said.
Karan was severely injured and then rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Meanwhile, the locals complained that the driver was intoxicated during the course.
