Kharibari, 19th September: A youth was arrested with brown sugar during an SSB operation at the Indo-Nepal border in Panitanki. The arrested individual, identified as Vijay Rekson (21), is a resident of Jhapa district in Nepal.
According to reports, the 41st Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) intercepted the suspect while on patrol based on suspicion. During the search, the officials recovered 96 grams of brown sugar from his possession. The suspect was detained and handed over the accused to the Kharibari police.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Vijay had purchased the contraband in Panitanki market and was allegedly on his way to Nepal for its clandestine disposal. On Thursday, the accused was presented in the Siliguri Sub-divisional Court.
