Kharibari, 01st June: A youth identified as Mukul Roy, a resident of Gaursingh Jote in Panitanki, has been arrested for possession of 35 grams of morphine at Kharibari’s Panitanki.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, personnel from the 41st battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) detained Roy at Prasadu Jote More near Panitanki on Friday. During the search, they recovered 35 grams of morphine from Roy, leading to his immediate arrest. The accused was subsequently handed over to the Kharibari police station by the SSB jawans.
On Saturday, Roy was presented before the Siliguri court. Police sources revealed that Roy had previously been arrested by the Kharibari police on drug-related charges. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
