Jalpaiguri, 24th November: A large king cobra was rescued near the Gorumara National Park in Ramshai Dima More area of Maynaguri on Monday, causing panic among local residents.
A local resident reportedly spotted the nearly 12-foot snake hiding in bushes near his house, following which fear spread through the locality.
Forest officials and environmental workers soon reached the spot after being informed and successfully captured the king cobra. The snake was later released safely back into the Gorumara forest.
