Siliguri, 04th March: A distressing incident came to light where a youth was charged for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 15-year-old in the Durga Mandir area under the Medical Outpost. The police have successfully apprehended the accused Dipesh Roy (18), originally a resident of Gangarampur, currently residing in the Durga Mandir area for work.
Reportedly, the accused managed a butcher shop in the said area which led him to become well-acquainted with the minor’s family. As per details received, on Sunday, the minor had gone to a convenience store when the accused Dipesh spoke to her, took her to a secluded place, and attempted to sexually assault her. Meanwhile, when the minor did not return home after a long time, her family members began looking for her. Subsequently, she was rescued from the clutches of the accused.
Following the incident, the family members filed a written complaint at the Medical Outpost. Upon investigating the case, the officials arrested the accused youth. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court. Currently, the Medical Outpost police are engaged in further investigation.
