Yi-Siliguri launches “My Safety Book” to spread awareness on Child Sexual Abuse

In its first attempt to implement an actionable plan in Siliguri, Yi launched the “My Safety Book” which aims to sensitize the children on Child Sexual Abuse in an activity-based child-friendly manner.


The book was launched by Lekh Ram Nyoliwala, Chair – Yi Siliguri in the presence of the principals and teachers of Sri Sri Academy, Bright Academy, Campion International School, Sister Nivedita School, Miriam High School and Modi Public School which are Yi Thalir Schools and have agreed to collaborate with Yi to reach out to students in its initiatives.

Young Indians (Yi), founded in the year 2002, is a movement to converge, lead, co-create and influence India’s future. Yi is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) that aims to realize the dream of a developed nation. Yi Siliguri was formed in 2013 and currently engages over 125 young entrepreneurs, students from leading educational institutions (colleges, schools) and habitants of 8 villages in and around Siliguri, in its various activities focused on Nation Building, Youth Leadership and Thought Leadership.


Under its nation building initiatives, Project – Masoom is one of its flagship project which aims at spreading awareness about Child Sexual Abuse among children, parents & teachers, implement actionable projects with schools/parents & initiate policy advocacy with the government authorities to make appropriate changes in the law to curb this menace. Over the last 7 years, Yi Siliguri has conducted numerous awareness sessions on the issue in schools (both government and private), residential housing societies & members’ workplace.
