Woman’s skeletal remains recovered from house in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th June: Sensation prevailed in the Pramod Nagar’s Kalkut area of Devidanga under Pradhan Nagar Police Station after skeletal remains, suspected to be of a woman, were recovered from a closed house on Thursday.


The deceased is initially believed to be Pasang Doba Sherpa (53), a resident of Sikkim who also owned a house in Siliguri. She had been missing for the past six months, and a missing person report was filed by her son in Sikkim. Despite continued efforts, Sikkim Police had been unable to locate her.

On Thursday, acting on the case, Sikkim Police reached her Siliguri residence. As the house was locked, the police broke the door open and found skeletal remains in the bedroom.


The identity of the remains has not yet been officially confirmed. DNA testing will determine whether the remains are indeed of the missing woman. The body has been sent to the hospital for forensic examination with the help of Pradhan Nagar Police.

Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of death and circumstances surrounding the incident.
