Siliguri, 14th November: A brazen snatching incident took place in Siliguri on Thursday evening, raising serious concerns about the city’s safety. The incident occurred near Thakur Nagar on the Eastern Bypass, under the NJP Police Station area.
According to reports, Saraswati Mandal, a local woman, was crossing the Eastern Bypass and heading to a relative’s place when four assailants arrived on two motorcycles. The robbers forcefully pressed her mouth shut, preventing her from shouting for help.
Subsequently, they proceeded to steal her gold jewelry, including earrings, a necklace, and a ring. After taking the valuables, the robbers pushed her to the ground and fled the scene on their motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the woman screamed for help, attracting locals’ attention who rushed to her aid. The incident was immediately reported to the NJP police and the officials have launched an investigation into the incident.
