Siliguri, 27th October: Matigara Police arrested a woman after recovering 27 grams of brown sugar during a raid at a house in Vishwas Colony on Monday evening. The arrested woman has been identified as Mahinur Begum.
According to police sources, the raid was conducted based on a tip-off. During the search, officers recovered 27 grams of brown sugar from the house. The woman was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act over her alleged involvement in the drug trade.
On Tuesday, she was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court, where police sought her remand for further investigation.
Notably, police had raided another house in the same locality last Saturday and recovered 285 grams of brown sugar. In that case, two women identified as sisters-in-law were arrested over their alleged involvement in the drug trade. Both are currently in police custody on remand.
