Woman arrested with 103 grams of brown sugar and over Rs 5 lakh in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th December: The Matigara police have arrested a woman in connection with a major drug racket, seizing 103 grams of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 5.3 lakh. The arrest took place following a tip-off.


According to police sources, a raid was conducted on a house in Vishwas Colony, Matigara, on Tuesday evening. During the search, 103 grams of brown sugar were found hidden under a bed. Alongside the drugs, police also recovered Rs 5,30,000 in cash, which is believed to be linked to the drug trade.

The arrested woman has been identified as 26-year-old Najira Khatun. Police suspect that she was running the brown sugar business from her own residence.


The police will present the accused before the Siliguri Court on Wednesday, seeking a 10-day remand for further investigation. The Matigara police are continuing their probe into the case.
