Wild elephants create ruckus and damage kitchen of a primary school in Rajganj

Rajganj, 14th December: In yet another incident of elephant ruckus in human-inhabitant areas, wild tuskers entered the grounds of a primary school in Rajganj and significantly damaged the school’s kitchen. The incident took place in the Simulguri C.S. Primary School located under the Mantadari Gram Panchayat of Rajganj.


According to reports, on Wednesday, the elephants invaded the school premises and severely damaged the doors and windows of the kitchen. Further, the elephants proceeded to destroy several other items in the establishment. The incident came to light when the teachers arrived at school, the next morning, and discovered the huge damage made by the wild elephants.

As per school authorities, the school is located in an elephant-prone area and has been subjected to similar attacks. Compounding the issue, the elephants arrive at the school at night and also during the day.


In this regard, School TIC Nirmal Kanti Sarkar stated that the matter has been reported to the higher authorities. Mid-day meal food items will not be stored in the storeroom to prevent damage caused during elephant attacks. Teachers and students are in terror due to the absence of a boundary wall and urged the authorities for the development.
