Wild elephant rampage damaged several houses in Madarihat

Alipurduar, 31st March: Panic gripped the resident of Madarihat in the Alipurduar district after a wild elephant attack led to the severe damage of five houses and a tea shop in the area.


Reports indicate that a herd of wild elephants emerged from the Jaldapara National Park late on Saturday night and entered the Meghnad Saha Nagar in Madarihat. The elephants then ransacked the area for several hours causing extensive damage to five houses. Additionally, they damaged a tea shop belonging to a local resident.

Upon receiving news of the incident, forest workers swiftly responded and reached the affected area. Eventually, the elephants retreated back into the forest. Meanwhile, the affected residents have demanded compensation from the forest department for the damages caused by the wild elephant attack.
