Darjeeling, 29th June: The Ajoy Edward-led Hamro Party, which won the Darjeeling Municipality a few months back, could bag only 08 out of 45 seats in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration poll today. The party won 07 out of 17 constituencies in Darjeeling, only 01 seat out of 15 constituencies in the Kurseong sub-division, and none in Kalimpong.
Speaking in this regard, party President Ajoy Edward stated that as per the GTA poll results, the newly formed Hamro Party won 08 seats, making them the second-largest party in the Hills in just six months. He congratulated Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha and party president Anit Thapa for their landslide victory in the GTA election.
Edward added that the party would play the role of a responsible opposition in the GTA and make the voice of people louder. He further asserted that the party will not tolerate any ‘corruption’ and ‘nepotism’ in the GTA. Edward thanked all his supporters and promised to work for the people of Kurseong, Kalimpong and Mirik in the future.
