Siliguri, 16th April: The Kamtapur Progressive Party (KPP) clarified its political stance ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, announcing its support for candidates of the Kamtapur State Demand Council (KSDC). The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Siliguri Journalists’ Club.
Leaders of the organisation stated that the KPP will support KSDC candidates in three Assembly constituencies, Dabgram-Fulbari, Matigara-Naxalbari, and Phansidewa. The party also confirmed that its members will actively participate in campaigning and appeal to voters to support the KSDC candidates.
KPP leaders strongly criticised both the Central and State governments, alleging that despite years of promises, developmental work has remained inadequate.
They also expressed dissatisfaction over the perceived neglect of North Bengal, highlighting long-standing grievances of the region.
Reiterating their core demand, KPP leaders once again called for the creation of a separate Kamtapur state, asserting that such a move is essential for the region’s overall development.
