Water enters several houses in Devashish Colony, residents blocked road

Siliguri, 28th June: The Devashish Colony area under the Ward No.24 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation has been getting inundated by water repeatedly due to continuous downpours and lack of drainage. Hence, enraged local people blocked the road as a protest.
It is alleged that as soon as it rains, the water of the Fuleswari river overflows and enters the houses of the locals. Allegedly, Councilor Pratul Chakraborty took stock of the area, but no initiative was taken to solve the problem.
On the other hand, Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation Ranjan Sarkar stated that due to the incessant rainfall, various areas of the Municipal Corporation are getting waterlogged. “Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Borough Office have arranged food for the people and a control room has been set up,” he added. He further said that efforts will be undertaken to drain out the water as soon as possible.
