Siliguri, 04th June: Amid a growing drinking water crisis in Siliguri, CPI(M) Area Committee No. 2 staged a protest at the Borough II Office on Wednesday, demanding urgent resolution from the civic authorities.
Left supporters and local residents marched to the Borough II Office raising slogans like “We want water, give water.” The protest highlighted the public’s frustration over the prolonged water scarcity in various parts of the city.
CPI(M) leaders alleged that despite repeated appeals to the administration, no permanent solution has been provided, leaving residents to suffer daily. They blamed the Municipal Corporation for its failure in addressing the issue.
As part of their continued agitation, CPI(M) has announced a plan to gherao the Siliguri Municipal Corporation on July 4. Leaders cautioned that the movement would intensify if the crisis is not resolved soon.
