Vyavasayi Samitis support weekly market closures for sanitation work in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th July: To prevent the third wave of the pandemic, the administration has already decided to close several markets in the city once a week for sanitation work.


Hardware Merchant Association, Motor Parts Dealer Association, Seth Srilal Market, Bidhan Road Vyavasayi Samiti, Hillcart Road Vyavasayee Samiti and traders of Gaurishankar Market held a press conference at Siliguri Journalists Club on Wednesday and accepted the initiative taken.

Khokan Bhattacharya, secretary of Seth Srilal Market, said that the administration is making every effort to stop the third wave and has directed to keep markets closed once a week for sanitation.


“Agreeing with this decision, we will close the market every Sunday. We will also ensure that the administration does not have any problem regarding sanitation work,” he added.
