Voluntary organization leads tree plantation program at Tinbatti More in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th June: In celebration of World Environment Day, a voluntary organization spearheaded a tree plantation program at the GREF camp near Tinbatti More in Siliguri.

On Tuesday, approximately 200 saplings were planted by the organization, joining the global efforts to mark the day with environmentally conscious activities. The initiative saw participation from people across various walks of life, all contributing to the cause of environmental conservation.

An official from the organization highlighted the urgent need for such initiatives, citing the rampant tree-cutting activities and the resultant temperature increase in North Bengal. He emphasized the importance of planting trees and encouraged everyone to plant at least one tree to help combat the rising temperatures and environmental degradation.

  1. Sonam says:

Great initiative, but the saplings have to be treated as new born babes n care given to ensure it matures before heat, animals n neglect claim it.
Every year Govt spends huge amount of money to plant saplings but most die due to neglect n plant not being fit for the location.
So still every sapling planted counts..
