Legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee breathed his last at 12:15 pm in Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic, on Sunday. The 85-year-old was admitted to the hospital on October 6 after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
He later tested negative for the infection following which he was shifted to a non-COVID ITU. His condition deteriorated on November 13.
The actor was suffering from several co-morbidities including prostate cancer, for which he underwent treatment some years ago, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. He had been admitted to hospital in August last year with severe pneumonia.
