Unregistered e-rickshaws banned on Siliguri’s main roads, drivers protest across the city

Siliguri, 05th August: On Monday, e-rickshaw drivers of Siliguri staged protests in different parts of the city demanding an end to the ban on e-rickshaws on main roads.

Reportedly, allegations have been raised against the protesting drivers for disrupting the operation of both registered and unregistered e-rickshaws. Passengers were forced to get off the vehicles during their travel. Additionally, similar unrest was witnessed in various parts of the city, including Ashighar More, Eastern Bypass, and Fuleswari.

Later, the police had to intervene to bring the situation under control. They have informed that it is not possible to forcibly disrupt the e-rickshaws or remove passengers from them. On the other hand, the e-rickshaw drivers have complained that the unregistered e-rickshaws are not allowed to operate on the streets of the city due to which the drivers are facing problems.
