Union Minister of State Shantanu Thakur arrives at Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st August: Union Minister of State Shantanu Thakur arrived at Siliguri on Monday to campaign ahead of the Dhupaguri assembly by-election on September 05. He was warmly welcomed by the Matua community and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders at the Bagdogra Airport.


While addressing the media, the minister explained that the primary objective of his visit is to campaign for the polls as well as attend a meeting with the Matua community. He further expressed 100 percent optimism regarding party’s victory in the by-elections. He asserted that, considering the party’s history of victory in the area, they will get good results in the polls in North Bengal this year too.

In regard to the Jadavpur University incident, he criticized the state’s educational system and claimed it to be the primary cause of the state’s decline. He further added the need to change the state’s government as the issue cannot be resolved by the current government.
