Fulbari, 17th September: The body of an unidentified person was recovered from a shed at Amaidighi Junior Basic School in Fulbari on Thursday morning, triggering panic among students, teachers and local residents.
The body was found in the connecting shed between the school’s mid-day meal kitchen and classrooms. According to the school’s TIC, Sanjib Sarkar, a teacher noticed the body at around 7:30 am.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown. School teachers and staff, as well as local residents, said they could not identify the person.
Local resident Miraj said he reached the spot after receiving information about the incident at around 7 am. He also claimed that no one from the locality could identify the deceased.
Local residents claimed that the school’s old boundary wall was demolished as part of the four-lane expansion work, leaving a large portion of the school premises open. They alleged that this has allowed outsiders to enter the school campus and demanded that a boundary wall be constructed at the earliest.
Following the information, police from New Jalpaiguri Police Station reached the spot. The body was recovered and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination.
Police have also launched an investigation into the incident.
