Siliguri, 06th December: Two youths have been arrested with a substantial amount of cannabis, on Sunday. The arrested accused have been identified as Vishnu Kumar Sao and Mohammad Gufaram, residents of Bihar.
The NJP police, acting on a tip-off, detained a four-wheeler car near Noukaghat bridge and recovered 25 kg and 600 grams of cannabis hidden inside the vehicle. Following this, the police arrested the youths on charges of drug smuggling.
According to police sources, the cannabis was being smuggled from Assam to Bihar. The estimated market value of the recovered cannabis is around Rs 3.5 lakh. The arrested individuals were sent to Jalpaiguri court on Monday. Police have launched an investigation into the whole incident.
