Two drown while bathing in Buri Balason River to escape heat in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 12th June: In a tragic incident, two individuals drowned while bathing in the Buri Balason River in an attempt to escape the intense summer heat. The incident occurred in the Kamarganj area of Phansidewa block and has left the local community in shock.


The deceased have been identified as Supriya Das and Saurav Mandal, both residents of Gossainpur Natun Para in Bagdogra. According to local sources, the duo had gone to the river on Thursday along with friends when the mishap occurred.

Police teams from Phansidewa and Bagdogra police stations rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent them to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
