Jalpaiguri, 23rd December: Two Bangladeshi women were arrested in Jalpaiguri after illegally entering India in search of work through an agent, who is currently absconding.
According to sources, the women crossed into India from the Berubari border under the cover of darkness, guided by the agent.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, Kotwali police apprehended the two women early on Tuesday morning. One of the women is a resident of Mymensingh, Bangladesh, while the other hails from Faridpur.
The arrested women were produced in Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. A search operation is underway to trace the absconding agent.
