Siliguri, 19th November: Matigara police station personnel arrested two individuals in possession of a country-made pistol and ammunition late Monday night. The accused have been identified as Sonam Tashi Tamang, a resident of Namchi in Sikkim, and Harsh Kumar Tamang from Kishanganj, Bihar.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, undercover police apprehended the duo near Chamta Bridge. Upon searching them, the police recovered a country-made pistol and ammunition, leading to their immediate arrest.
According to police sources, the two were allegedly planning to execute a major crime. Both suspects will be presented in Siliguri court on Tuesday, where the police will seek their remand for further investigation.
