Siliguri, 24th April: The Matigara police, based on a tip-off, conducted a secret operation and arrested two people with brown sugar, on Friday night. The arrested accused have been identified as Jahangir Ali resident of Kaliyaganj and Razzaq Sheikh of Karandighi.
According to police sources, Jhangir and Razzaq were headed to deliver brown sugar in a Xylo car. However, the police stopped the vehicle in the Bypass More area and conducted a search operation. During the search, two kilograms of brown sugar were recovered from the vehicle. Following which the police arrested both the accused for drug trafficking.
As per the report, the market value of seized brown sugar has been estimated to be around crores of rupees. Both the accused were produced before the Siliguri court, on Sunday.
