Two arrested with 1.5 kg of fake gold bars in Teenbati more

Siliguri, 24th January: Two men have been arrested by the NJP police with around 1.5 kgs of fake gold bars. The arrested accused have been identified as Jameer Ali, resident of Assam, and Arfan Sheikh, resident of West Midnapore.


The police received a tip-off after which a campaign was conducted in the Teenbati more area. Three youths were taken into custody based on suspicion. Amongst the three accused, one managed to escape.

According to the police information, they had planned to sell the fake gold bars to a businessman in Siliguri for around 20 lakh rupees.


According to the two arrested individuals, they got the bars from the soil while cultivating the land. They were trying to sell them in different states as they were unable to get a good price in Assam. They also tried to deceive a businessman in Siliguri.
