Siliguri, 24th September: Pradhan Nagar police have arrested two people in Siliguri for allegedly transporting liquor to Bihar. Different brands of liquor were recovered from their possession.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, Pradhan Nagar police conducted a raid at a petrol pump near Siliguri Junction on Wednesday night. During the operation, two men carrying three bags and allegedly moving around suspiciously were detained.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Kumar (33), and Manjesh Kumar Singh (40). Both are residents of Bihar.
Police said a search of the three bags led to the recovery of liquor of different brands. The accused allegedly failed to produce any valid documents for the liquor.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that they had secretly obtained the liquor consignment from a supplier and were planning to take it to Bihar. Police are now trying to identify the supplier and gather information about others allegedly involved in the network.
Police have registered a case against both accused for allegedly transporting liquor illegally and produced them before the Siliguri court on Thursday.
