Siliguri, 24th September: Matigara police have arrested a 22-year-old youth after allegedly busting a drug operation being run from a house in the Simultala area of Matigara. Police recovered 296 grams of brown sugar and Rs 56,000 in cash during the raid.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sumangal Bala (22), a resident of the Simultala area.
According to police sources, the accused was allegedly running the brown sugar trade from his residence. Acting on a tip-off, Matigara police conducted a raid at his house on Wednesday.
During the search, police recovered 296 grams of brown sugar along with Rs 56,000 in cash.
A case was registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, following which he was arrested. He was produced before the Siliguri court on Thursday.
