Siliguri, 24th September: Tension arose at the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad premises following allegations of pending salaries of teachers from Shishu Shiksha Kendra (SSK) and Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra (MSK). Several teachers staged a protest outside the Mahakuma Parishad on Thuesday, expressing their anger over not receiving their salaries on time.
According to the protesting teachers, their salaries have remained unpaid since July. They said the issue had previously been brought to the attention of the Mahakuma Parishad, where they were assured that the problem would be resolved within a week. However, they claimed that the assurance has not been fulfilled.
The teachers further alleged that when they approached the concerned official to raise the issue, they were allegedly treated rudely and subjected to discourteous behaviour. This led to further resentment among the protesters, following which they staged a prolonged protest outside the Mahakuma Parishad.
The protesting teachers demanded that their pending salaries be cleared at the earliest.
