Two arrested during trafficking of 52 buffaloes in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 30th August: Two individuals were apprehended with 52 buffaloes during a smuggling operation in Phansidewa’s Bidhannagar area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Khabin from Dalkhola and Khalek Mohammad from Uttar Pradesh.


The arrests occurred on Friday morning when police conducted a routine checking at Muraliganj and intercepted two suspicious freight trucks. During the inspection, authorities found the buffaloes inside the containers. The drivers of the vehicles could not provide valid documentation for the animals and were subsequently arrested.

Police sources revealed that the trucks were en route from Bihar to Bangladesh via Assam. The arrested individuals have been presented to the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present, the police are continuing their investigation into the case.
