Siliguri, 20th May: The Siliguri police station has become a hotspot of traffic congestion and inconvenience for the public due to the restriction on vehicles and bikes entering the premises. With the ban in place, long queues of vehicles and bikes can be seen lining the road outside the station, leading to significant traffic jams.
In the past, police officers used to park bikes within the Siliguri police station. However, the current prohibition on keeping vehicles and bikes inside the station has forced the authorities to park them outside the gate. Moreover, some vehicles involved in various cases or accidents are also left on the road in close vicinity to the police station, exacerbating the congestion and trouble faced by the residents.
As a consequence, the persistent traffic jams have caused inconvenience and frustration among the public, who are left grappling with the slow-moving traffic and limited road space. The situation has prompted a concerned resident from Babupara to voice his grievances through the ‘Mayor Ke Bolo’ program. During the call, the resident informed Municipal Corporation Mayor Goutam Deb about the adverse impact of the parked vehicles, which has effectively turned the road into a one-way lane in front of the police station. The Mayor assured the resident that immediate attention would be given to the matter.
