Rajganj, February 12: Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy organised a Maha Yajna for the welfare of humanity on Thursday amid growing concern over the rising number of road accidents in the area. The religious ceremony was held in front of the Patilavasha Kadamtala Kali Temple in Belakoba, Rajganj.
Recently, several areas under the Rajganj Assembly constituency have witnessed consecutive road accidents resulting in multiple fatalities. The deaths of two Trinamool Congress leaders in separate road mishaps have also created deep grief in the region.
In this backdrop, the Maha Yajna was organised with the aim of human welfare and to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. Family members of those who lost their lives in road accidents were present at the ceremony and prayed for everyone’s well-being and that such incidents do not recur.
Among those present at the programme were Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Krishna Roy Barman, Rajganj Trinamool Congress president Arindam Banerjee, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Rupali Dey Sarkar, representatives of various gram panchayats, and local residents.
