Naxalbari, 22nd July: Asraf Ansari, the Chairman of Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti and a prominent leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been arrested in connection with a land dispute case. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by the official responsible for land revenue in Naxalbari.
Earlier on July 12, a complaint was filed at Naxalbari Police Station regarding government land issues in Sebdulla Mouza. Following investigations, two individuals were arrested by the police. Subsequently, Asraf Ansari was also taken into custody.
In response to the allegations, Asraf Ansari stated that he had been arrested on false charges of being involved in land brokerage. He further expressed dissatisfaction over the arrest explaining that he had been conspired against.
