Bagdogra, 24th March: Ignoring persistent rainfall, Trinamool Congress candidate Sankar Malakar continued his election campaign with an umbrella at a tea garden in the area.
According to reports, Malakar campaigned at the Trihana Tea Garden in Bagdogra under the Matigara-Naxalbari assembly constituency, where he highlighted various development schemes of the state government among tea garden workers.
He was accompanied by INTTUC district president Nirjal Dey and district chairman Sanjay Tibrewal during the campaign.
Speaking on the sidelines, Malakar claimed that Trinamool Congress is far ahead in the campaign race and asserted that the BJP will be wiped out this time. He also mentioned that the Chief Minister is scheduled to address a rally in Naxalbari on the following day, which would further intensify the campaign momentum.
He expressed confidence that victory in the Matigara-Naxalbari seat is only a matter of time.
